Emmy Residents on the Move

There’s a new set of wheels at Emmy Monash—and it’s already bringing plenty of smiles.

Our new community bus has arrived, giving residents more opportunities to enjoy the excursions and outings they love—from scenic drives to beachside coffees. With upgraded safety features, greater comfort and adaptable seating, it will help us run more frequent and more inclusive trips.

We are deeply grateful to loyal Emmy donors, Tab and Eva Fried, whose generosity made this bus possible. Their connection to Emmy spans more than two decades; in 2006, they donated our very first bus in memory of Eva’s father. Now, they have again shown extraordinary warmth and commitment by funding this new bus in memory of both of Eva’s parents.

To mark this wonderful occasion, we hosted a joyful ribbon‑cutting celebration, honouring Tab and Eva’s extraordinary generosity and also their long‑standing, heartfelt connection to Emmy.

The atmosphere was filled with warmth and gratitude as we recognised how their unwavering support continues to strengthen the bonds that make our community so special—relationships nurtured over years, and carried forward by families who treasure the exceptional care their loved ones receive.

“We are proud of our long-term association with Emmy Monash. They are doing amazing work, and my parents would be glad that we made this donation again.”

Resident and regular bus‑outing participant Monty Stanger spoke from the heart about the meaningful role these outings play in residents’ lives, of the sense of independence, connection and joy the bus brings.

A beautiful speech was also delivered by David Fried, son of Eva and Tab, on behalf of his family. He reflected on the legacy of his grandparents and the Fried family’s deep connection to Emmy, “These buses bring connection, adventure and care to our community—just like Emmy Monash does every day.” His words perfectly captured the spirit of the day and the lasting impact of the Fried family’s generosity.

Founders Society

Every year, philanthropy makes Emmy the outstanding place
it is, and this was true in our founding decades until today. We are
fortunate that our community sees the value in creating an environment
and lifestyle program second to none in the nation.

Building a Future: The Impact of the Founders Society

The Emmy Monash Foundation’s Founders Society is a bequest disclosure program that supports long‑term planning and sustainability. When community members share their intention to include Emmy in their wills, it helps us prepare for the future and ensure their legacy supports the areas they value most—such as kosher meals, Jewish music and culture, or other meaningful initiatives. Every bequest strengthens our future.

A bequest is more than a financial gift; it reflects personal values and ensures future generations continue to benefit from the warmth, care and Jewish life that define Emmy Monash.

As community needs evolve, knowing about future bequests helps us plan responsibly. Joining the Founders Society is a powerful way to safeguard our community and shape the future.

“As former board members, we value planning for the future and want to share our commitment. We hope others will join us in supporting Emmy for generations to come.”

DONOR Spotlight

Joe Krampel AM

When long standing board member Joe Krampel celebrated a milestone birthday recently, he marked the occasion in a most generous way—by asking his friends to donate to Emmy in lieu of birthday gifts.

The Gift of Giving

Thanks to Joe’s heartfelt gesture and the kindness of his community, we are delighted to share that more than $5,000 has been raised.

This act of generosity will have an immediate and meaningful impact. One hundred percent of the funds raised will go toward launching
a new weekend art therapy program for residents, delivered by a qualified art therapist.

Through guided creative expression with a professional, residents can explore emotions, build confidence, and experience moments of joy, calm, and purpose.

We are deeply grateful to Joe and his friends for helping make this transformative program a reality.

Enhancing Resident Environments

The Beautification Focus Group plays a vital role in placing resident choice at the centre of life at Emmy.

The environment at Emmy is important to residents’ wellbeing and sense of home. The Beautification Focus Group brings together residents, staff and family members to find ways to enhance the beauty and use of the Emmy gardens, shared spaces and corridors.

Supported in part by the Estate of the late Anna Binko and the ERDI Foundation, this group makes meaningful enhancements possible, improvements that cannot be achieved through government funding alone, as many community‑led activities and shared spaces fall outside those funding provisions.

The work of the Beautification Focus Group ensures our environment reflects the traditions at the heart of Jewish life and strengthens our community’s sense of belonging.

Speaker Series

Knowledge that connects the community.

One of the Foundation’s most successful recent initiatives has been its Speaker Series, designed to empower the community with meaningful insights that support lifelong learning.

Last year, the Speaker Series grew to deliver quarterly sessions covering aged care reforms, practical coping strategies, the power of positivity, and evidence‑based insights into the future of Jewish life in Australia.

Community support ensures Emmy Monash can continue offering a vibrant Jewish life, meaningful connection, and empowered community living.
