Message from the CEO
As Emmy Monash celebrates its 85th year, there is much to be proud of, and even more to look forward to.
This year has been one of reflection, planning and progress. While we have taken time to celebrate the people and milestones that have shaped our history, we have also been looking ahead and considering how Emmy can continue to meet the changing needs of Melbourne’s Jewish community.
That work is taking place against a shifting backdrop. Expectations around ageing and care continue to change, government reforms are reshaping the sector, and the social environment in which Jewish organisations operate has become increasingly complex.
The Royal Commission into Antisemitism and Social Cohesion is a reminder that Emmy is operating in a very different environment to the one we knew only a few years ago.
Ensuring the safety and security of our residents, families, staff and visitors remains one of our highest priorities. Emmy continues to invest significantly in security measures, despite these costs not being covered by government funding. It is an important responsibility, and one we remain firmly committed to.

While this year is about celebrating our past, we will also be looking ahead. We have a full calendar of events that will bring us together, including the launch of a commemorative cookbook that captures the stories and food traditions woven through our community. As well as being celebrations they are reminders of who we are and what we value.
More importantly, 2026 is the year we set our direction for the next chapter. Our new Strategic Plan focuses on three clear priorities: developing a retirement living community that offers choice and connection; expanding the range of services we provide to people living at home; and strengthening our people and partnerships to ensure the Emmy way and quality of care continues to thrive. These priorities are practical, ambitious and shaped by what our community has told us matters most.
Thank you for your ongoing trust and involvement. I’m so proud of where we are today, and I hope you will join us as we shape what comes next.

Shaping Emmy’s Future
In June, we proudly launched Emmy’s new Strategic Plan, outlining an exciting vision for the next five years and beyond.
Through a series of Information Sessions, residents, families, staff and community members came together to explore the plan, share ideas and help shape the future of Emmy.
Building on our strong foundations, the plan sets a clear path for growth, innovation and sustainability, ensuring Emmy continues to be a vibrant Jewish home that evolves with the needs of Melbourne’s Jewish community.
Three key priorities will guide our journey: exploring the development of a retirement living community, expanding in-home care services, and strengthening our commitment to people‑centred excellence.
The energy, enthusiasm and valuable feedback shared throughout the sessions reinforced the importance of this work. While some initiatives are still being explored, every step is being taken with care and purpose.
Together, we are creating a bold future for Emmy, and we look forward to sharing the journey with our community.
